At Valencia, sustainability is part of how we live, move, and grow as a community. Through VALENCIA GO transportation subsidies, residents are empowered to make everyday choices that support the planet and better for their well-being. One of those residents is Mohamed, a resident of the Valencia community since 2022.

Mohamed applied for the transit and Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV)subsidy when he moved into the neighborhood. “Applying for the transit subsidy was the best decision for several reasons,” he says. “First, riding the bus makes for a more relaxing commute. I can read a book, watch a show or movie on my phone, catch up on work, or take a nap, which is much better than sitting through hours of traffic behind a wheel.”
Mohamed also appreciates that the subsidy made sense financially and for the environment. “It covers most of the cost of my monthly commute and is far cheaper than the cost of gas or wear and tear on a car,” he explains. “And it’s environmentally friendly. The bus is always full which means fewer cars on the road, less traffic, and less pollution.”
Using transit has had a very positive impact on his daily life. Driving to work each day used to be a stressful experience due to his long commute downtown and rush hour traffic. By riding the bus, he is shortening his commute time and making better use of that time by doing enjoyable activities.
Mohamed mainly uses TAP to commute to work Monday through Friday. The transit subsidy has positively impacted him and his family. “Since I don’t have to deal with driving in rush hour traffic, I come home more relaxed,” Mohamed says. “I feel less tired and therefore able to engage in and enjoy more quality time with my family.” An unexpected perk? Building new connections. “I see regular commuters on my route and have developed friendships with some of them, which is great because it builds a sense of community.”

Mohamed’s recommendation for getting started is simple: “Use the Santa Clarita transit website and get to know the different routes and services available so you can plan your commute and ensure a smooth experience.”
Mohamed has seen that the subsidies that VALENCIA GO offers have increased the number of zero-emission vehicles, neighborhood electric vehicles, and use of bikes in the community, which helps make the community eco-friendly for now and future generations as Valencia continues to grow. Mohamed and his family are proud to do our part in helping to sustain it.
